A new baseball scorebook is now available from www.totalrecap.com.  I have been working on this graphic and detailed oriented scorebook for over 5 years now.  It includes 40 blank sheets, scoring instructions, and a few classic games to chose from as samples.  The classic games include the Don Larsen perfect game in the 56 world series, Fisk's homerun game in the 75 series, the 7th game of the 2001 world series, and the Sea Dogs first home game as a double-A affiliate of the Red Sox.  Each classic game sample includes pitch by pitch scoring of the game.

The website was just completed a few days ago, I would be interested to hear comments and suggestions regarding the website and scorebook.

Thank you.

That scorecard looks much like the one I use . . . although not the same.

I imagine you won't have many orders from the Philly area given the example game you used.  smilewink.gif alt=Wink>

I like that book, except for one thing.

When I look at a book one of the first things I want to see is what a batter did at the plate, meaning hits-for-at bats.  You know, Molitor went 3-for-5 or whatever.

In your book, I see Plate Apprearances, but I'd have to go through the rest of the columns to figure out at-bats.  I also see columns for 1B, 2B, 3B and HR, but not for Hits.  Call me lazy, but I don't want to search through multiple columns and have to do math to figure out something as simple and as important as 2-for-5.

Just one person's suggestion.

  Thanks Hoopdreams,

I batted (no pun intended) the plate appearances vs. at bats dilema for a while.  I have run out of room to add another column so I will probably keep this system.

However, here's a question for you.  Would you rather not keep track of 2B and 3B, only total hits and then maybe a HR columnn, and change the PA to AB's so that you would know the someone batted 2 for 5 but not the types of hits (except homeruns)?

Thanks for the feedback.

RDOwens - I agree, I wouldn't order that Toronto vs Philly game either if I were a Philly fan.  My long term goal is to make a signature game for each city.  What would you choose for the signature Philly game, 2nd or 5th game of the 1980 world series?

Thanks.

No, I'd suggest you change the singles column to Hits.  Then I can see the total hits at a glance, and look down the row to see the extra base hits.

If it were me, I would eliminate the PA column in favor of AB.  At-bats are a basic component of most of the statistics in the game.  Plate appearences are almost never discussed and only used a for a few statistical calculations.

But, that's just me.

Errr . . . if you're going with a World Series game, I would suggest game six of the 1980 Series.

Game five of the 1980 NLCS was a better game: Ryan v. Bystrom, out at the plate, extra innings, series tied, etc.

ABs are needed to prove the boxscore.

Thank you RDOwens and Hoopdreams.  After this weekend I plan on revisiting the column section of my scorebook.  I already have some ideas thanks to you both, AB's will get in there.
